There are no plans to integrate ChatGPIT with its entire audio lineup and CMF earphones any time soon

Nothing is expanding ChatGPT integration across its entire audio device lineup as well as all the earphones launched under its CMF brand. The London-based smartphone brand last month launched the Nothing Ear and Nothing Ear A, which were the brand’s first wireless earphones to get native integration of OpenAI’s artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot. Users can trigger the chatbot by simply pressing the stem of the device. Now, this functionality is being extended to all earphones by the brand.

Announcement The announcement came from Nothing’s official X (formerly known as Twitter) handle, which also mentioned the list of earphones that will get the feature. According to the company, Ear 1, Ear Stick, Ear 2, CMF Buds, CMF Neckband Pro and CMF Buds Pro will also get ChatGPAT integration. Interestingly, the company’s first wireless earphone Ear 1 is also included in this list.

However, there are a few caveats before users can access ChatGPT directly through their earphones. First, there is the double opt-in process. Co-founder and CEO Carl Pei did not say anything separately Post Users must first download the ChatGPT app on a smartphone, and then configure a trigger to activate the chatbot through the NothingX app. Additionally, the integration will only work when the earphones are paired with Nothing’s smartphone. However, once these conditions are met, users can easily access the AI models without the need for a phone.

ChatGPT integration allows users to ask verbal questions to the chatbot and receive responses directly through the earphones. This integration is expected to improve now that OpenAI has unveiled the GPT-4o model that renders spoken conversations and emotional voices in real-time. Moreover, with real-time video processing, the user can show anything to the chatbot and get instant feedback about it. These features are being gradually rolled out by the AI firm.

While the Nothing Ear and Ear A earphones are not included in the list, they already have ChatGPT integration. Launched in April, the earphones are equipped with 11mm dynamic drivers, support up to 45dB ANC and feature a Transparency Mode. Both the earphones feature in-ear detection feature and also allow Google Fast Pair and Microsoft Swift Pair.
