Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra to launch in South Korea now; Galaxy Watch Ultra in the works: report

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra may be more than a red herring. After months of rumors of a third foldable smartphone launching at the next Galaxy Unpacked event this year, a new report claims the smartphone will likely launch. But there is a twist in it. Reportedly, the Ultra foldable will only be launched in South Korea and is not expected to be introduced in other regions. But the good thing is that the tech giant is also said to launch two new smartwatches – Galaxy Watch Ultra and Galaxy Watch FE.

The information about the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra comes from a report by Android Headlines, which claims to have seen the model number of the smartphone in its database. This suggests that the South Korean tech giant is developing a new foldable smartphone with model number SM-F958N, and it matches the Ultra variant. The reasoning behind this is that Samsung uses the number eight, as seen at the end of the model number, only for devices with the Ultra moniker. It was reported that the model number of Galaxy S24 Ultra was SM-S928x while the model number of Galaxy S24 was SM-S921x. This pattern is similar in previous years also.

Furthermore, the report claims that it has only received a single model number for the smartphone which suggests its limited availability. It is said that the alphabet N in the model number denotes the South Korean region, and based on this, the publication states that the Fold 6 Ultra may not be launched anywhere else.

In a separate report, Android Headlines also claimed that Samsung may soon launch the Galaxy Watch Ultra and Galaxy Watch FE. According to the report, both these smartwatches will be the successors of the existing two smartwatches – Galaxy Watch 6 and Watch 6 Classic. These are said to be part of the Watch 7 series, which will see the departure of the Classic variant and the entry of FE and Ultra variants. The report found three model numbers for the Watch Ultra: SM-L705U, SM-L705N, and SM-L705F. N, U and F represent South Korea, US and Global, indicating that the smartwatch will be available everywhere. Similarly, the Watch FE variant was said to have three model numbers SM-R866F, SM-R866U and SM-R866N.

It should be noted that the report does not mention when the smartwatches could be launched, but considering the Watch 6 series launched in August 2023, the Watch 7 series could be introduced at the next Galaxy Unpacked event . According to reports, this event is expected to be held in July.
