The Samsung Galaxy Ring was teased at the Galaxy Unpacked event on January 17 where the Galaxy S24 series smartphones were unveiled. The Galaxy Ring was said to be launched as a health and fitness tracker compatible with Samsung Health Suite. Although the company has not revealed any further details about the smart wearable, several leaks and reports have since hinted at its key features and design. Now, a company executive has confirmed the launch timeline of the Galaxy Ring.
Samsung senior executive Daniel Seung Lee confirmed in a LinkedIn post that the highly anticipated Galaxy Ring will launch in the second half of 2024. He did not provide any further information on the matter nor indicate any exact date. The smart ring was previously speculated to be introduced alongside the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 later this year. The confirmed launch timeline is in line with that assumption.
Last week, the Samsung Galaxy Ring was spotted under the battery widget section on the Good Lock app, revealing its imminent launch. The ring is planned to launch as a “lightweight” wearable in three colors and come in various sizes up to 13 in (22.2 mm). The smart ring is also expected to support Pogo pin charging.
The company previously claimed that the Galaxy Ring is a “powerful and accessible health and wellness tool.” The smooth, round ring in the above official teaser was seen equipped with multiple sensors mounted on the bottom, to help with health and fitness tracking.
Earlier leaks have revealed that the Samsung Galaxy Ring will likely be equipped with electrocardiogram (ECG), photoplethysmography (PPG) or atrial fibrillation (AFib) sensors. It is also expected to have a 24×7 heart rate, SpO2, and sleep tracker. All health, fitness and sleep data from the smart ring is likely to be uploaded to Samsung Health Suite for monitoring.
