The Samsung Galaxy Ring has been showcased at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024 in Barcelona, which is currently underway. The South Korean tech giant also revealed that its Samsung Health platform will play an important role for wearable devices in tracking health vitals and providing insights to users. Additionally, the company’s AI suite will also be expanded across its broader portfolio. Samsung has also revealed that the Galaxy Ring will be available in three different color options.
On Sunday, making the announcement in a post via its newsroom, Samsung said the Galaxy Ring “will be publicly demonstrated for the first time” at MWC 2024. It has now demonstrated the wearable device and shared some of its details at a session held earlier today. , Although the Galaxy Ring was not available to try out, it was placed in a large display case for enthusiasts to view.
There is still much that is not known about the device. However, the images reveal the same dark metallic body with sensors mounted on the inside that was first teased at the Galaxy Unpacked event in January. According to Samsung, the Galaxy Ring will be available in three color options and will offer multiple health tracking features. No information was shared about its launch date.
The company said that Galaxy Ring will be introduced as a new health form factor. This will be linked to the Samsung Health platform, which is being revamped and modernized as per earlier reports. Based on rumors, the Galaxy Ring wearable is expected to feature a 24×7 heart rate monitor, a SpO2 (blood oxygen) sensor, a sleep monitoring tracker, and other fitness tracking capabilities. Blood pressure monitoring feature can also be found in it.
Separately, the South Korean giant also announced that there will be a big focus on Galaxy AI during the showcase. Samsung has previously announced that AI features will be expanded to its existing smartphones including the Galaxy S23 series, Tab S9 series, Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5, and Galaxy S23 FE. But now, it has been revealed that the AI suite will also be expanded into different product lines. Both the Galaxy Book 4 series and the Galaxy Watch 6 series will get Galaxy AI features, albeit in a more exclusive version. The laptop will get “intelligent productivity” features while the smartwatch will get “intelligent health” features.
The post also gave a glimpse of what an “intelligent health” suite could look like, highlighting two features. A new My Vitality Score feature will provide personalized health insights based on sleep quality and quantity, daily activity, average heart rate, heart rate variability and more. A second feature called Booster Cards will track users’ predefined goals and provide insights on how to achieve them.
