The Samsung Galaxy Ring was announced at the Galaxy Unpacked event on Wednesday, January 17. It was also accompanied by a short teaser video that hinted at the design. It was claimed to be a “health and wellness tool”. However, the company did not reveal any feature details, nor confirm the launch timeline. Over the past few days, several leaks about the Galaxy Ring have surfaced online. The possible dimensions of the smart ring were previously suggested, now it has been spotted on one of the firm’s software suites.
A Reddit user spotted the Samsung Galaxy Ring on the Good Lock application under the Battery widget section along with other Samsung devices. This suggests that the device is under development and is likely to be launched soon. It was previously tipped to launch alongside the alleged Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 later this year.
An earlier report claimed that the upcoming Galaxy Ring will be “incredibly” light. It is expected to be available in several sizes up to 13 in (22.2 mm). Smart ring can also be launched with three color options. It is also likely to support Pogo pin charging.
From the company’s teaser of the Samsung Smart Ring earlier this year, we’ve seen a round, smooth ring equipped with multiple sensors at the bottom. These are expected to help users in health and fitness tracking. The company describes it as a “powerful and accessible health and wellness tool.”
Like most health and fitness trackers, the Galaxy Ring is said to be able to track, measure, monitor, and upload health, fitness, and sleep data to essential applications. Older leaks suggest the device may carry the more usual 24×7 heart rate, SpO2 and sleep trackers, as well as electrocardiogram (ECG), photoplethysmography (PPG) or atrial fibrillation or AFib sensors.
