The Samsung Galaxy Buds 3 series may feature a new design from their older versions. Following the same tradition as the current generation of Galaxy Buds 2 and Galaxy Buds 2 Pro, the upcoming lineup is expected to include Galaxy Buds 3 and Galaxy Buds 3 Pro. Although there has been no official confirmation about these, details about them have surfaced through leaks and other listings online. Now a new report claims that the Galaxy Buds 3 and Galaxy Buds 3 Pro are expected to be launched with a significant design change compared to the previous earphones.
Samsung Galaxy Buds 3 design (expected)
According to a report by The Chosun, the Samsung Galaxy Buds 3 series may come in a kidney bean-shaped design with an additional stem. This would be a major change from the current in-ear stemless design of the Galaxy Buds 2 lineup. It’s unclear whether both the base Galaxy Buds 3 and Galaxy Buds 3 Pro will include this change, or whether it will be a differentiator of the higher-end Pro version.
If this is true, Samsung’s addition of a stem to the Galaxy Buds 3 would also bring about a functional change. This is likely to improve call quality because by design, the mic can be placed at the end of the stem, closer to the mouth. It can also reduce the volume of the earbuds and increase the comfort or fit for users.
With the increased space in the case with the redesign, the company may also include larger batteries and other better hardware within each earphone. The report adds that the Galaxy Buds 3 are expected to have AI features to improve the user experience. Notably, the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2, Galaxy Buds 2 Pro, and Galaxy Buds FE recently received a range of Galaxy AI features via over-the-air (OTA) update.
Samsung Galaxy Buds 3 launched, specifications (expected)
Previous reports have claimed that the charging case of the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro is likely to house a battery with a rated capacity of 500mAh. This may be slightly better than the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro, which have a moderately priced 515mAh charging case battery. Typical values are usually higher than rated values.
Galaxy Buds 3 Pro and Galaxy Buds 3 reportedly may not launch at the same time. At least one variant is expected to join the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 at the next Galaxy Unpacked event, which is rumored to be held in July.
