The Meta platform announced several notable updates to its Ray-Ban Meta glasses at its Connect event on Wednesday. One of the most notable features is the video capability that enables the wearer to ask for information about the sights and other locations they are visiting in real time. The company has also made it easier to interact with Meta AI – its artificial intelligence (AI) assistant – courtesy of the new wake-up command, among other new features.
In a blog post, the company announced that Ray-Ban Meta glasses now support wake-up via the “Hey Meta” command, while users will also be able to ask follow-up questions without having to repeat it all over again. The update also makes redundant the “Look and” command that was previously used in general question-and-answer conversations or to identify what they are looking at.
They can also set reminders through sound signals. Meta says that his glasses will now be able to remember things. For example, it will remember where the user has parked his vehicle at his airport.
The company is also adding video capabilities to Ray-Ban Meta glasses. When exploring places, users can now ask the smart glasses to identify landmarks or famous places in real time, with the glasses essentially acting as a virtual tour guide. While grocery shopping, they can ask Ray-Ban Meta Glasses to give cooking suggestions based on the ingredients they’re looking at.
Meta is improving its partnerships with Spotify and Amazon Music, while it also announced new partnerships with Audible and iHeart. Users can ask the glasses to find tracks and provide additional information.

In addition to the software update, a new special edition of the Ray-Ban Meta Glasses has also been announced. The new option is called Shiny Transparent. As the name suggests, they have a transparent design that reveals some of the internals. These glasses come with EssilorLuxotica’s new range of UltraTransitions GEN S lenses. They come with clear to sapphire transition lens color options.
However, the new glasses are only available in the standard size, which is priced at $429 (approximately Rs 36,000).
