Ray-Ban Meta Glasses get Shazam integration, enabling hands-free music recognition on the go


The Meta platform announced several new features for Ray-Ban Meta Glasses on Monday. Meta detailed the new features coming to the Ray-Ban Meta Glasses in a newsroom post. The Shazam integration is being rolled out as part of the v11 software update for smart glasses that is now rolling out to eligible devices. However, it is currently limited to Canada and the US.

It provides hands-free music recognition through voice prompts. Users can ask, “Hey Meta, what song is this?” And Ray-Ban Meta glasses will identify songs using Shazam. The feature is said to come in handy in situations when a great track is playing, such as in a store or café, helping users know the name of the track or artist and not miss it.

Notably, the company introduced support for Apple Music earlier this year, which included the ability to stream music through Apple apps without touching the phone. It takes advantage of the wearable’s voice-to-search functionality to play songs, playlists, albums, stations or even artists.

Other new features

In addition to the Shazam integration, Meta also introduced a Live AI feature. Similar to ChatGPIT’s Advanced Voice with Vision, it gives Meta AI access to Ray-Ban Meta Glasses’ cameras to monitor the video feed in real-time. The chatbot can constantly observe the user’s surroundings and answer questions about them. Users can invoke Meta AI without the “Hey Meta” command and even ask follow-up questions.

Apart from this, live translation has also been added to smart glasses. It provides real-time speech translation between English and Spanish, French or Italian languages. Users can play the translated audio through open-ear speakers and even get a transcription of it.
