Just Corsica unveiled new personal audio products in March and they included the Just Corsica SoundWave True Wireless (TWS) earphones. They come with 13mm drivers and promise up to 40 hours of playback time. These are also equipped with hybrid noise cancellation, which allows users to choose between two modes and multi-touch function buttons enable a seamless switching experience. After a few days with these earphones, I will tell you about my experience and you can decide whether you should get these or not.
Just Corsica Soundwave review: Design and features
The Just Corsica Soundwave earphones come with a straight in-ear canal design with silicone ear tips that provide a comfortable fit. In the box, there are two more pairs of silicone ear tips, in different sizes, to offer a more custom fit for users. The earbuds came with a medium tip out of the box and they fit me quite well. Each Soundwave earbud weighs 3.8 grams and I was able to use them for more than a few hours (read the runtime of Dune: Part One) without any issues. The mic is placed at the bottom of the two buds, while the multi-function touch button is placed higher on the stem to avoid any accidental control triggers.
The charging case of the Just Corsica Soundwave earphones is equipped with a USB Type-C charging port, which is placed at the bottom. A single light indicator just below the brand logo on the case indicates whether it is being charged by a flashing red light or fully charged by a steady red light. The charging contact points can be seen at the bottom of each earbud in golden color which helps in avoiding direct skin contact with the metal. This prevents any unnecessary metal allergies that some people may experience. Inside the box, there is a USB Type-A to Type-C along with the earphones and additional ear tips. It also includes an instruction manual that you will need to initially learn the control commands.
Although there’s nothing terribly innovative about the design of the Just Corsica SoundWave earphones or the charging case, it does the job quite well. The ABS material used for the charging case ensures a sturdy build at only 41.5g (with earphones). The matte finish also protects the surface from unwanted marks and stains. The square case with rounded corners is small enough to fit easily in a pocket (even in women’s jeans).
The Just Corsica Soundwave magnetic charging case is safe and convenient too. I can open and close it with just my thumbs and it’s also easy to place the individual buds in their slots. Once you get and release the stem onto each slot, the magnet does the rest.
The Just Corsica Soundwave review unit also came with a vegan leather pouch with keyring extension worth Rs. 499 (as advertised on the box) to hold the case. It’s a nice fit, including a charging port cutout at the bottom, but for me it’s unnecessary as I prefer to always have the charging case for my TWS earphones in my pocket while in transit or (more commonly) stationary, The table on my side, in plain view. The leathery color of the contraption also gives me a western cowboy vibe but if that’s your thing, it’s a neat accessory (and free for that matter).
Just Corsica Soundwave review: App and specifications
The lack of a dedicated application with Just Corsica Soundwave on your smartphone, which would allow you to add and customize gesture controls, equalizers and more, could potentially be a discouraging element. Most mainstream audio brands nowadays offer related applications to help customers personalize their experiences even more. However, if you mostly consume music, podcasts, and other audio content and aren’t too finicky about equalizer settings, the Just Corsica Soundwave will serve you well.
With the Just Corsica Soundwave earphones you get about 10 meter range of Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity. They pack 13mm drivers that deliver a high-fidelity, holistic sound experience. Each earbud is equipped with a 40mAh battery, while the charging case is backed by a 500mAh battery.
Just Corsica Soundwave review: Performance and battery life
First of all, I was pleasantly surprised by the clarity of sound provided by the Just Corsica Soundwave, even and especially at high volumes. As someone who often turns to Led Zeppelin’s Black Dog to chase away sleep, from the clear tones of Robert Plant’s high notes to the clear rhythms of John Bonham’s alternative selections – the earphones have it all and the minimum. Presented with deformities.
Bass-heavy tracks like the title track of Jethro Tull’s 1975 album Minstrel in the Gallery or Russian composer Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture also played with very little distortion, even at 80 percent volume. A normally loud track like The Beatles’ I Want You (She’s So Heavy), which in my experience doesn’t always produce very loud output at high volumes with budget or mid-range earphones, was a smooth experience even with these earphones . The middle notes are also quite acceptable. Clear and crisp.
Before I make my case as to why these earphones are broadly ‘good’, especially when it comes to sound experience and clarity, I need to tell you how they perform in their endeavor with treble tone. Most TWS earphones for less than Rs. The 5,000 provide a good bass but often break down on high-frequency, treble-heavy numbers, especially at volume levels over 50 percent.
When I first heard the Making of a Cyborg soundtrack to the 1995 anime Ghost in the Shell, composed by Kenji Kawai, Just Corsica Soundwave immediately won some brownie points from me. This is one of the most, if not the most, thrilling pieces of science fiction music I have ever seen. It is significant not only in its narrative use but also in the track’s complex, unique arrangement. Even at 90 percent volume, the clarity and precision with which these earphones were able to help me navigate this treble-heavy soundscape took me back to the time I heard them for the first time.
As mentioned earlier, I also used the Just Corsica Soundwave to watch Dune: Part One (as a refresher before Dune: Part Two, of course). Perhaps Hans Zimmer’s orchestral symphonies are best suited for the IMAX experience, but it wasn’t the worst adventure with these earphones. For the most part clarity was not compromised.
The Just Corsica Soundwave earphones are equipped with hybrid noise cancellation that offers users both Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) and Environmental Noise Cancellation (ENC) options. You can easily switch between these two modes by pressing the multi-function touch button for two seconds. ANC actively cancels out most indoor low-frequency noises and some high-frequency noises, which some mid-range TWS earphones suppress at best, such as the microwave beeping or a crack in my balcony door. Creak. The ENC or Transparent mode ensures that you are adequately aware of your surroundings, especially when out on the road, but it doesn’t tamper with the sound quality much. The earphones also offer a preset game mode with 40ms low latency.
The multi-function touch buttons on the Just Corsica Soundwave provide smooth operation. There are a bunch of single, double or triple tap and long press variants that you can use to control all the essential functions including adjusting volume, switching between tracks and/or models, as well as accessing voice assistance on your phone. Can do. To get started, the instruction sheet will guide you through the commands. After the first few minutes of movement, orders are maintained quite intuitively. It’s not too complicated and in less than an hour I was getting in and out of modes without any glitches.
With a single charge of one and a half hours, the Just Corsica Soundwave is claimed to deliver a total battery life of up to 40 hours with the charging case. During review, I got about six hours of playback time on the earbuds with ANC on. However, without ANC, the earphones lasted me about eight hours without any interruption. The charging process is simple, you simply place the earbuds back in the case and after 10 minutes of charging, they provide about two hours of playback time. To charge the charging case, I used a 67W adapter with a USB Type-A to USB Type-C cable. It takes about one hour and 40 minutes to charge completely.
However, the mics on the Just Corsica Soundwave are weak. You are not completely inaudible to your caller, nor is it completely obvious. The sound people often hear at the end of the second line is strangely slow, as if you’re speaking with your hands over your mouth. Along with the versatile sound experience offered by the earphones, an exceptional calling experience will help make them almost a perfect product. But I guess we can’t have our cake and eat it too. However, as someone who majorly prefers texts rather than phone calls, this didn’t impact my usage much.
Just Corsica Soundwave review: Verdict
At Rs. 4,299, the Just Corsica SoundWave is a worthy option to consider if you are looking to buy TWS earphones under Rs. 5,000, especially if the lack of an accompanying equalizer app isn’t a complete hindrance.
These TWS earphones bring you good voice calling as well as a noise cancellation feature that actually cancels out noise, including some high frequency noises that most models with ANC support in this range are unable to hide. fail. The competitive battery life also helps them stand out against products from more popular brand names in the current Indian market.
While not the most premium sound available on the market, they deliver a rounded sound experience that, in a personal capacity, I would compare to the Realme Buds Air 5 Pro. Another good competitor in this range would be the Oppo Enco Air 3 Pro (Review). However, if you’re willing to spend a little more, the OnePlus Buds 3 (Review) are a good option. At additional Rs. 1,200, you not only get a companion application but also multipoint connectivity, customizable slide gesture support, and more.
