The Humane AI PIN was recently showcased publicly for the first time at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024 as it launches exclusively in the US in November 2023. The artificial intelligence (AI)-powered device with its unique form factor and no display panel immediately attracted global attention. And while other markets are waiting for the device to launch, a new report suggests that the AI Pin may make its debut in India soon. Humane is the brainchild of co-founder and ex-Apple employee Imran Chaudhry and his wife Bethany Bongiorno.
In an interview with Times Now Tech, Chaudhary, president and chairman of Humane, revealed the startup’s plans to eventually bring AI Pin to India. “We have been really impressed by the demand,” he said. We have seen the greatest interest in the device in India. We’re trying to figure out how to reach out to India and make sure that we’re a cultural fit in terms of the things that Indian customers want from our services.
According to the report, the husband-wife duo will also spend some time in the country to better understand user behavior and pain points to further improve the AI PIN before introducing it in India. For now, the startup is focused on delivering the first batch of devices to customers in the US. It will begin shipping pre-ordered units in March, and the first AI Pins are expected to be delivered in April 2024.
Humane AI Pin is an interesting tool. It was the first announced device built entirely using AI, followed by Rabbit’s R1 and an app-less AI smartphone by Deutsche Telekom that was showcased at MWC. Dubbed a “screenless smartphone,” the AI Pin is a boxy device that houses a 13-megapixel camera with a 120-degree field-of-view, a speaker, a microphone, and multiple sensors. It also features a laser ink display that can display visual information on a flat surface or even the user’s palm.
It is powered by an unnamed Snapdragon chipset for on-device AI capabilities, paired with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of inbuilt storage. The AI engine on the device is OpenAI’s GPT-4. Talking about connectivity, it comes with 4G (eSIM), dual-band Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.1 and GPS support.
The AI PIN is capable of a wide variety of functionalities. It can draft and send emails, messages and posts with verbal prompts, recommend songs and playlists, answer questions, search the Internet, summarize text And can even share information about an object in front of the user, such as a car or restaurant. ,
