Google makes its Pixel Watch models in single-sized variants, unlike Apple and Samsung, which make smartwatches in different sizes. The first Pixel Watch and Pixel Watch 2 both come in a 41mm diameter size. But there will reportedly also be a 45mm sized variant of the Pixel Watch 3. This update follows a report in January that said the next Google Pixel Watch would be available in two sizes.
According to a report from 9to5Google, the Google Pixel Watch 3 will finally offer a larger sized version in addition to the expected traditional 41mm model. Citing sources, the report claims that the new variant will be 45mm in size, making the watch case significantly larger. Although both models are likely to have similar features, the larger watch may get a larger battery.
Pixel Watch users have long been requesting a larger size model as the single 41mm version sits quite small on wide wrists. Google’s rivals Apple and Samsung already offer their smartwatches in a variety of sizes. The Apple Watch Series 9 comes in 41mm and 45mm size variants, while the Galaxy Watch 6 is available in 40mm and 44mm sizes.
The 9To5Google report also claims that Google is working on Pixel Buds Pro 2 earphones. The successor to the Pixel Buds Pro, which was first launched in the Indian market in 2022, doesn’t have an official moniker or launch timeline yet, but the earphones have reportedly been in development for some time.
There are no further details available yet about the Pixel Watch 3 and Pixel Buds Pro 2. In November last year, a patent filing suggested that the next generation of Pixel Watch could go for a button-less design with gesture-detecting sensors.
Google Pixel Watch 2 was launched in India in October 2023. The watch is powered by Qualcomm 5100 SoC and features a 3D curved always-on display. Pixel Watch 2 comes with 2GB RAM and 32GB inbuilt storage and runs Wear OS 4.0 out-of-the-box.
