Frame AI Glasses, a new artificial intelligence (AI)-powered wearable gadget, has been unveiled by Brilliant Labs. The device competes with similar wearable AI products like Humane’s AI Pin and Rabbit R1. The company’s AI glasses look like standard prescription glasses, but come equipped with a micro-OLED display and multimodal AI capabilities. The company claims that the Frame AI glasses can feel like “your glasses have given you AI superpowers”. The device is currently available for pre-order and Brilliant Labs expects to begin shipping by April.
Brilliant Labs’ website showcases the product and highlights some of its hardware specifications and features. It has also posted a video that shows off the Frame AI Glasses and some of its functionalities. According to the company, the AI glasses weigh less than 40 grams, which is comparable to average prescription glasses. Sunglasses usually weigh a little less and range between 10 grams – 20 grams.
Talking about the hardware, the AI glasses have two layers of lenses, with the outer one being an augmented reality (AR) lens and the inner one being an optional space to attach prescription lenses. If no prescription lenses are needed, an optomechanical enclosure with a micro-OLED fit in this location. The company claims the display panel is “attached to a thin geometric prism optic”. The whole setup uses magnets to connect the parts, similar to the Apple Vision Pro. Temples contain circuitry and the temple tips contain batteries.
According to the company, when it comes to features, the Frame AI Glasses have a wide range of functionalities. It has visual recognition capabilities and can produce a description of the object you are looking at. It can also translate text in real time, show nutritional details of food products, conduct live web searches, and even generate images and use AR lenses to superimpose them on the real world. Can be kept in such conditions. The company revealed that the visual analysis feature and live translation are powered by OpenAI’s AI models, and Perplexity AI enables live web search.
The Frame AI Glasses are available in Cool Grey, H2O, and Smokey Black color options, and can be pre-ordered for $349 (approximately Rs 29,000). The company is including an accessory called Mister Power, which is basically a power bank for longer battery life that attaches to the middle rim of the lens with the product. Currently, Brilliant Labs is offering AI services for free with a daily limit, but has said it will announce paid tiers soon.
