Xiaomi announced the latest operating system (OS) for its devices last month called HyperOS 2.0. The update introduces a wide range of new features, including expanded home and lock screen customization options, visual changes, performance enhancements, and artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities. A company official has now previewed another new feature that improves the compatibility of Xiaomi smartphones with Apple devices like the iPhone, enabling users to easily share files across the ecosystem.
HyperConnect Feature on Xiaomi HyperOS 2.0
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun showed off the interconnectivity services of HyperOS 2.0 with the HyperConnect feature. In a short video, the official demonstrated file transfer from Xiaomi 15 Pro to iPhone, iPad, and Mac through a single-click solution. Once the file is selected, nearby Apple devices automatically appear in the Share menu and the file transfer takes mere seconds.
The Xiaomi CEO revealed that users can not only share files, photos, and other content with Apple devices, but can also access proprietary file formats like Apple Keynote on the Xiaomi 15 series without the need to convert them beforehand. . Additionally, the Xiaomi 15 Pro’s screen was also mirrored on a MacBook to show off its capabilities. For this, both the devices are required to be on the same Wi-Fi network. However, it is unclear whether both of these features require initial setup.
Notably, the availability of Xiaomi’s HyperOS 2.0 update is limited to China at the moment and there is no official information regarding its global debut.
Lei Jun emphasized the company’s goal of becoming an ecosystem best suited with Apple devices and highlighted the “connected and collaborative” future of technology. The inspiration for the feature came from the Xiaomi SU7 electric vehicle (EV) – a project that the Chinese smartphone maker started earlier this year after Apple abandoned its smart car project. The goal is to develop an EV that is best compatible with Apple products, the CEO said.
