According to a report, the Google Weather app for Pixel devices has introduced a new feature that makes checking the weather a more immersive experience. Google released the Weather app with the Pixel 9 lineup at its annual Made by Google event in August. The new feature, called “Immersive Weather Vibration”, is reportedly appearing for users as part of the app’s latest update. It is said to offer unique vibration patterns depending on weather conditions, in addition to more intense aspects.
Immersive weather vibrations in the weather app
As Android Authority reports, the new immersive weather vibrations feature was discovered in Weather app version 1.0.20240910.678970266.release. This is called a server-side update and appears as an option in the right-aligned panel below the AI weather reports feature.
Immersive Weather Vibration on the Weather app will reportedly enable Pixel smartphones to vibrate with weather animations when available. It is estimated that it will be available for various weather conditions like heavy rain, snowfall, storm, drizzle and sporadic rain. The report states that a sound effect will also be played along with the animation.
Gadgets 360 staff members were unable to verify its availability on the current Weather app. However, this feature is expected to be rolled out gradually for Pixel users, so it may take some time for it to be visible to all users.
Weather app for old Pixel phones
A recent report suggests that the Weather app, which is currently exclusive to the Pixel 9 series, will soon be available on older devices as well. This includes all Pixel 6, Pixel 7, and Pixel 8 series models, as well as Pixel A series phones including the Pixel 6a, Pixel 7a, Pixel 8a, and Google Pixel tablets.
