Opera browser for iOS gets free inbuilt VPN, allowing users to browse the web privately

Opera added a free inbuilt VPN (Virtual Private Network) to its mobile browser for Android in 2019. Years later, the company is now launching the free VPN feature on Opera browser for iOS as well. This will allow iPhone and iPad users to browse the web privately without any additional extensions. With the latest addition, Opera claims it has become the first web browser to offer free inbuilt VPN on Android, Mac, Linux, Windows, and iOS platforms. Opera for iOS is also getting other upgrades, including a bookmarks feature with Speed Dial and a new Live Score.

Opera announced the addition of a free VPN to the Opera browser for iOS via a blogpost on Wednesday. The service launched in its mobile browser for Android in 2019. The latest update allows iPhone and iPad users to access the web by creating a private network from a public Internet connection, ensuring online security and anonymity.

iOS users can turn on VPN from the hamburger menu on the homepage. This VPN is claimed to encrypt traffic and keep IP addresses private. The new native VPN service is free to use and does not come with any attached log management strings attached. Also, no additional extensions are required to avail the service.

Opera claims that it maintains user anonymity and ensures that the browser does not collect any personal data or information related to users’ browsing history or origin network address.

The free VPN is already available on various platforms, including Opera for Mac, Windows, Linux, and Android. With the latest addition, Opera says it has become the first web browser to offer a VPN for free on all major platforms.

The new feature is currently available for early access for some users, and the company expects to complete the full rollout in the coming weeks.

Apart from the free VPN service, the Opera browser for iOS is also getting several new features. A bookmark feature is also being introduced to organize online activities. It comes with a speed dial feature that allows users to access pages or sites quickly. Additionally, there is also a new Live Score feature that will display the scoreboard of the day’s matches on the homepage of the browser.

Opera for iOS also offers a Fast Action button that helps organize all navigation tools within thumb reach. My Flow enables file sharing between phones, tablets and computers and the browser’s crypto wallet allows users to keep track of their digital assets at all times.
