Google has reportedly started introducing the iOS-like feature to make multi-device usage easier for users of the Android ecosystem. That being said, a new option called ‘Sync Apps to Devices’ is now being rolled out under the ‘Manage Apps and Devices’ section of Google PlayStore. Hopefully this option will let Android users install apps on all devices they are logged in to with the same Google account. The purpose behind releasing this feature is to increase convenience for users of Android devices like phones, tablets, and watches.
Google hasn’t officially announced the roll out of this feature, however, some people have already noticed the new option on the PlayStore. Its screenshots have surfaced on Twitter.
Tapping the option will reportedly allow users to see all the devices that are signed in with their Google accounts. They can then select or deselect the devices they want to sync their phone apps to.
A note from Google also reportedly mentions, “Apps you install on this device will also be installed on your synced devices.”
People using two or more Android phones at the same time will also be able to mirror all their apps signed in to the same Google account on all phones. However, this feature will not update apps on all connected devices at the same time. Users will have to manually update all apps on individual devices.
Details on the wider rollout of this feature remain unclear, including a timeline. At present, confirmation from Google regarding this feature is also awaited.
Apple already provides this functionality to iOS users. By default, all devices associated with the same Apple ID sync across iPhone, iPad, MacBook, and Apple Watch.
