WhatsApp for Android is reported to soon integrate a two-way voice chat feature for in-app artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot Meta AI. Now, a new report claims that the Voice Mode feature will also include multiple voices of public figures, allowing users to customize their experience interacting with the chatbot. Additionally, other voices from the US and UK are also said to be integrated into the feature. Notably, the Meta AI voice mode will be able to interact with users like a human.
According to a post by WhatsApp feature tracker WABetaInfo, information about voices of public figures was spotted in WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.24.19.32. This feature is not currently visible, and as a result, people who have signed up for the Google Beta program will not be able to see it.
It can be seen in the screenshot shared by the feature tracker that WhatsApp is planning to implement multiple voices for Meta AI. These voices are said to vary in pitch, tonality and accent to give users a unique experience. These will likely be similar to ChatGPIT’s existing voice mode which offers users four different voices.
According to the feature tracker, there are three voices with UK accents and two with US accents. Details regarding their gender, pitch or regional accent were not shared. Interestingly, it is being said that four voices in it will also be of public figures. Although the names were not disclosed, it is being said that these could be influential people or celebrities.
This is not a new move for WhatsApp’s parent company Meta. Last year, the company introduced several custom AI chatbots on Messenger based on the personalities of influencers, celebrities, and other notable figures. The voice options are likely an extension of that project and could be extended to AI characters.
Apart from this, the interface of Meta AI voice mode for WhatsApp was also revealed in an old report. Once activated, the feature will pop up with a sheet at the bottom with “Meta AI” written at the top and a blue ring icon placed in the center.
