Microsoft is reportedly bullish on the Indian market when it comes to artificial intelligence and especially the company’s in-house AI platform Copilot. This information was shared by Puneet Chandhok, President of Microsoft India and South Asia in an interview. The executive also reportedly claimed that CoPilot is gaining momentum in the country due to increasing real-world use cases of the technology. Notably, several manufacturers have recently launched CoPilot+ PC-branded laptops in India, which allows users to use AI natively on the system.
Microsoft has reportedly seen increasing momentum for Copilot
In an interview with PTI, Chandhok talked about India and the reception of AI technologies by both users and enterprises. Microsoft has reportedly seen an increase in momentum on AI and specifically Copilot. The tech giant is also reportedly not planning to reduce technology spending in India, due to the rise of Copilot in the country.
Chandhok also reportedly highlighted that skepticism regarding AI in the country is turning into optimism as more and more players are adopting the new technology. Additionally, Microsoft is also said to have noticed the real impact of AI on the ground with “the emergence of real, interesting use cases.”
Furthermore, the Redmond-based tech giant has reportedly described India as one of the “fastest growing regions globally for Microsoft” and the company sees it as an opportunity to make a dent with its offerings and innovation.
Notably, Microsoft has been aggressive with the roll out of AI features in 2024. The company has released several upgrades to Copilot, including advanced image editing capabilities, voice and vision features, as well as its integration into various services like Microsoft 365, Azure, GitHub, etc. and more.
Recently, the tech giant upgraded GitHub Copilot with support for multi-model capability. It can now support Anthropic’s Cloud 3.5 Sonnet, Google’s Gemini 1.5 Pro, and OpenAI’s GPT-4o, O1-Preview, and O1-Mini models. Many brands like Asus, HP, Dell, and others have also released CoPilot+ PCs with a dedicated CoPilot button and system-wide CoPilot AI capability.
