Google’s Circle to Search feature will reportedly work with message bubbles with Android 15

According to a report, Circle to Search may soon work even when message bubbles are expanded after Google rolls out the Android 15 update to users. At the moment, Google’s visual lookup tool, powered by artificial intelligence (AI), stops working as soon as a message bubble appears on the screen. However, this functionality may be changed soon. This development comes after Google was reported to be expanding its Circle to Search feature to more devices, ending its exclusivity on Samsung and Google handsets.

Circle the message bubble for search detail

Android Authority reports that Google’s AI-powered Circle to Search feature may soon also work when message bubbles appear in floating windows. Currently, the overlay for the visual lookup tool does not appear on the screen when opening a chat bubble. Long pressing the home button or navigation bar triggers Circle Two Search – neither of which can be accessed when message bubbles are open.

After digging deeper into the source code of Android 15, the publication found references to activating Circle to Search when message bubbles are opened. This feature allows users to highlight an area on the screen by encircling it and enabling its visual lookup on the web. It supports actions like writing, circling or drawing on any object and text on the screen.

The publication was able to activate the feature, even suggesting that the Mountain View-based tech giant could get this feature after original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) released Android 15 for their respective handsets. It won’t take much time to introduce the feature.

Circle for Search expected to come to other smartphones

A recent report suggests that Google’s Circle to Search feature may soon be introduced on more Android smartphones. It is speculated that the Xiaomi 14T series will be one of the first handsets to get it apart from Google and Samsung. It will be launched in Berlin on 26 September.

According to the report, the AI-powered feature is also expected to come to the Tecno Phantom V Fold 2, which debuted on Friday along with the Phantom V Flip 2.
